News & Events
Recent news reports have been discussing an outbreak of Canine Influenza Virus in Chicago, IL. As a result of these reports, newscasts and boarding facilities are encouraging pet owners to vaccinate their dogs against the virus despite there being no confirmed cases in North or South Carolina. The vaccines available protect against the virus strain H3N8. The strain affecting the dogs in the Chicago outbreak is H3N2, which can cause a more severe case of influenza than H3N8. There have been no studies proving that the H3N8 vaccine is effective against H3N2. For more information about Canine Influenza, please visit the link below.
